If in the process something went wrong and after several minutes of waiting time nothing stirred - do not panic. Take out battery, reinsert and try again - the experience shows that it usually works.

Last resort at boot loops: Do not panic battery out, wait 3 minutes battery back inside!. By high volume, home and power to boot into recovery mode ( see video ). Go with volume buttons to "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" and press the Home and Power (depending on recovery version). Thus, the device is reset to factory settings, now the update should be no problem.
