The Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is now a few days ago released . In Germany, it still leaves at least two weeks in coming, owners of devices with branding providers may have to wait even longer. We show you how to get Android 4.0.3 still has - and still today.

It's almost the weekend - because you can take some small project in Flash Attack! Therefore, we want to show you how to reflashing the official European version of Android 4.0.3 "Ice Cream Sandwich" (Samsung firmware XXLPQ) on his Samsung Galaxy S2 - without having to wait for the OTA update or GRAVEL need. It's basically harmless, really not difficult and should take even for an untrained user no longer than an hour to complete. Nevertheless, a few pointers to start:

  • This guide applies only to the standard model of the Galaxy S2 (Galaxy S II GT-I9100 GSM). Owners "more exotic" variants as I9100G or I9100M: Let me check it, your device may be destroyed!
  • Before you begin, read our instructions completely and follow the instructions so meticulously as possible.
  • This is not an official update path. Even if the risk of loss is very low and the SGS2 as almost "unbrickbar" applies, can always happen. We neither Samsung nor take responsibility for any damage.
  • Who Custom firmwares and / or reflashing ROMs or rootet his device, forfeited (at least on paper) its warranty.
  • Who flashes Ice Cream Sandwich on the method described here will lose - not mandatory, but may be - all data stored on the device and apps. First create so be sure to back up all important data.
Read all warnings and understood? Well, then you can start yes.

Preparation: This is what we need

  • Samsung Galaxy S2 with at least half charged battery
  • A USB connection cable
  • The flashing tool ODIN
  • The firmware package (Attention, about 380 MB!)
  • Download via Filefactory
  • Who wants to be rooten SGS2 is (recommended): CF-Root for XXLPQ firmware

  8. After a short delay (about 2 minutes), the firmware is flashed. Once the yellow box is green and the word "PASS" appears, you've made it. Now, the cable must be removed.
Congratulations, you have succesfully followed the

If in the process something went wrong and after several minutes of waiting time nothing stirred - do not panic. Take out battery, reinsert and try again - the experience shows that it usually works.

Last resort at boot loops: Do not panic battery out, wait 3 minutes battery back inside!. By high volume, home and power to boot into recovery mode ( see video ). Go with volume buttons to "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" and press the Home and Power (depending on recovery version). Thus, the device is reset to factory settings, now the update should be no problem.

Rooten Samsung Galaxy S2 with Ice Cream Sandwich

Whether in direct connection or later - who have Samsung Galaxy S II with Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" will also equal rooten still can do it quite easy to do on the CF-Root kernel, we have also packed in our package . A pleasant side effect: ClockworkMod Recovery is also installed, which allows you to install custom ROMs.

For rooting, simply repeat the above flash process, but with the root kernel file CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.tar in "PDA" box. In this case, no data is deleted.

At startup should the infamous yellow triangle appears, can cause this with the app Triangle Away remove.
